2020 Career Day
Greetings!
We are excited to announce The Main Street Academy's, a Fulton County public charter school, 2020 Career Day on March 10, 2020. We are seeking a variety of professions to participate. We are asking participants to devote at least one hour to speak and visit with our students. Be prepared to share the following information with students:
• The starting and average salary your profession earns
• The level of education/ training required
• Which subjects (i.e. Math, English, Science, Social Studies, etc.) are primarily used in your field
• The type of environment in which you primarily work/work setting
• The population (age, gender, socioeconomic status, etc.) of people you work with
• What you like most and least about your career
• Advancement opportunities in your field
• Any interesting information you can share with students
• The level of education/ training required

Our school is composed of students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. We will have professionals speak to students in their classrooms and possibly in a college fair type set up for older students. Therefore, we ask that you identify the best grade band for your presentation. While we will make every attempt to honor your identified grade band, understand that we may not be able to honor your request to ensure all students have a professional present to them.
Speakers will share information about their profession and answer a few questions from students. Speakers will have 10 - 12 minutes to speak to a group of students. Three minutes will be allotted for transitioning to the next class. Speakers will share their presentation four times in an hour. We ask that you have literature or visuals (when possible) to share with students about your profession or company.
We hope you will sign up to participate and/or refer this opportunity to your friends and colleagues. We want to expose our students to as many careers as possible. Please sign up for Career Day by completing the Google link below by February 29. On the Google form, you will provide your contact information, profession/title, and the grade band you prefer. There is also a column to identify any special notes you desire to communicate with us.
