We're excited to welcome our TMSA scholars back to school for the 2025 - 2026 academic school year! The first day of school is Monday, August 4th, and we have all the important information you need to prepare for the new school year. Let's make this school year the best one yet!

TMSA's 2025 - 2026 Student and Family Handbook
The Student and Family Handbook informs students and their families of the policies, procedures, and operations of The Main Street Academy. It highlights policies and guidelines necessary for the academic achievement, safety, welfare, and well-being of our students.

TMSA's Back-to-School Open House is on Thursday, July 31, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Parents and guardians are encouraged to stop by the school anytime between 10:00 AM and 1:45 PM to prepare for the exciting year ahead.
 
School Hours
School Hours: 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Early dismissal ends at 2:00 p.m., no exceptions.
The Extended Care Programs operate from the first day of school until the last day of school.
 
Students must arrive at school by 7:45 a.m. daily. School starts at 7:45 a.m. (due to traffic, plan accordingly and arrive early).
 
Morning carline drop-off begins at 7:15 a.m. in front of the school. Students dropped off before 7:15 a.m. must be enrolled in the Extended Care Program (before school). Scroll down to the Extended Care Program section for additional details. 
 
Afternoon dismissal begins at 3:00 p.m. and students must be picked up from the carline by 3:30 p.m.
*For the 1st week of school, Kindergarten students only will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m. Kindergarten students are to be picked up at the gym entrance (green zone.)* If the Kindergarten scholar has siblings or family members that ride in the same vehicle in different grade levels, all siblings, riders, and the kindergartner may be picked up at the 3:00 pm dismissal time. Kindergarten and families with siblings are dismissed at the gym entrance (green zone).
 
Morning Drop-Off
Kindergarten Students:
  • On the first and second day of school, Kindergarten students will be dropped off at the gym entrance. Parents may park at the gym entrance (green zone)
  • Kindergarten parents/guardians are allowed to come inside and escort their students to class on the first day of school, Monday, August 4th
  • On the second day of school, Tuesday, August 5th, kindergarten parents/guardians may drop off their scholars at the gym entrance (green zone), but may not escort them past the entrance doors
  • On the third day of school, Wednesday, August 6th, and all remaining days of school for the year, kindergarten parents/guardians must drop off their scholars in the carline at the main front entrance (orange or yellow zones). Staff will be positioned throughout the school and at the front drop off to ensure kindergarteners arrive safely in their classrooms
 
1st - 8th grade Students:
1st - 8th grade parents/guardians will not be able to escort scholars to their classrooms. Students will be dropped off in the carline at the main front entrance (orange or yellow zones).
 

Kindergarten Dismissal:

  • During the first week of school (August 4–8)Kindergarten students will be dismissed early at 2:00 p.m. from the gym entrance (Green Zone).
  • Beginning the second week of school (starting August 11), Kindergarteners will follow the regular dismissal schedule at 3:00 p.m., along with all other students.
  • If a Kindergarten student has a sibling or family member in another grade level, the family may choose to pick up all siblings together at 3:00 p.m.

  • All students in grades 1–8 will be dismissed daily at 3:00 p.m.

  • Returning families may need to update the app and/or delete and reinstall. 
  • All families need to have their location on because the app is geo-fenced.

Please note:

  • Traffic will be heavier and more hectic than normal during the first two weeks of school as students and parents are getting acclimated to the arrival and dismissal routine. There are also more cars during the first few weeks of school, as after-school activities have not yet begun. Please be patient and courteous to other parents and staff. We all have the same goal in mind, which is to get families in and out safely and swiftly. 
  • Parking on the side of Lakeshore Drive is strictly prohibited. Please do not park on the side lanes of the street and attempt to walk to or from the campus. Students will not be dismissed to parents/guardians on foot. Students who are walkers or use public transportation are pre-identified and are notified of pick-up and drop-off procedures.
  • Scholars not picked up by 3:45 p.m. will automatically be entered into the Extended Care Program (after school), and parents/guardians will be required to pay applicable fees. 
  • Be courteous to neighbors and not block driveways
  • No left turns permitted into and out of driveway during morning and afternoon carline

SchoolPass
 
TMSA's automated afternoon carline dismissal process - SchoolPass. All TMSA families/transportation providers are must download the SchoolPass app by the first day of school. Read the SchoolPass Letter to TMSA parents/guardians to obtain instructions on how to download the SchoolPass app, and to obtain additional important information. 
 
Important SchoolPass Details and Reminders:
Download the SchoolPass app before the first day of school
  • Add all authorized drivers to BOTH the SchoolPass app and Infinite Campus
  • Siblings will be linked before the first day of school
  • If you're unable to register your child(ren) on the SchoolPass app, please give their name(s) to a TMSA staff member patrolling the carline or email [email protected] to report issues. 
  • For early afternoon dismissal, parents/guardians must change the dismissal plan for the day within the SchoolPass app before 12:00 noon. Early dismissal ends at 2:00 p.m. daily.

Please obey the directions from police officers, school staff, and carline volunteers during morning and afternoon carline.
 
Donations and Supplies:
 
In order to maintain the flow of traffic and safety; donations and supplies should be dropped off during the Back-to-School Open House on Thursday, July 31, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Families who do not attend open house or have other donations/supplies to drop off, scholars may take them to their classrooms when dropped off in the morning carline OR parents/guardians must drive to the back of the school gym entrance (green zone)
to drop off the donations/supplies to a designated TMSA staff member. Staff members will be at the doors to accept donations/supplies. Be sure to label donations/supplies as follows:
  • Student's name
  • Name of the student's teacher
  • Student's grade level

School Uniforms: 
TMSA is a uniform-mandated charter school. All scholars (K - 8) are required to wear the official TMSA uniform daily. Scholars' uniform shirts must be embroidered with the school's official logo by the school's official uniform vendorsClick here for an overview of TMSA's uniform policy and a listing of our school's official uniform vendors. Uniform shirts may also be purchased in the TMSA School Store located in the Library Media Center.
 
Students must be in uniform daily (appropriate TMSA logo shirts, bottoms, belts, shoes, solid navy outerwear to wear indoors, and mesh or clear book bags). Parents/guardians will be contacted via phone and/or email to bring the appropriate attire if scholars aren't dressed in the correct uniform.

Flip flops, Slides, Crocs, etc. are not permitted. No exceptions.
 
Students' Personal Cellphones and Electronic Devices:

Personal cellphones, electronics, Smart Watches, and other communication devices are not allowed and will be confiscated. Per House Bill 340 "Distraction-Free Education Act," TMSA students are prohibited from accessing personal electronic devices. Please reference the Student and Family Handbook for more information.

Extended Care Program (Before and After School):
 
TMSA provides fee-based before and after-school care. Registration is required. The Extended Care Programs begin operating on the first day of school for both the before-school program and the after-school program. Before care drop-off is at the gym entrance doors. The aftercare pickup is at the front main lobby unless otherwise communicated.

Before-school care begins at 6:30 a.m., and drop-off is located at the gym entrance (green zone) every morning. 
 
School Breakfast and Lunch
All TMSA families must complete and submit the annual Free and Reduced Meals Application

Breakfast is served from 7:15 a.m. - 7:35 a.m. inside the cafeteria. 
 
Medication Authorization
TMSA parent/guardians must complete Medical Authorization Form(s) for medication to be administered to and/or carried by students during school hours. Click here to access the forms and return them to Nurse Jackson. More details are available on tmsa.org.
