TMSA's Morning Announcements Are Going LIVE

Each morning, all K - 8 students at The Main Street Academy hear the phrase “JETS please prepare yourselves for the morning announcements” over the schoolwide intercom system.  This familiar phrase references the school's JETS mascot and is echoed each school day by Mr. Nixon, TMSA's School Social Worker, as he cheerfully greets scholars in the morning over the schoolwide intercom.

Immediately after Mr. Nixon's greeting, members of the Student Announcement Team conduct the Pledge of Allegiance, the Scholars Creed, the Leader In Me Habits, the weather, local and community announcements, and the daily lunch menu.

“We use our student leaders to relay these messages because we believe the student body might listen more closely and buy into these messages more readily when they come from their peers,” Mr. Nixon said as he concluded the morning ritual. An important part of the ritual is to send a positive message, such as a congratulation for a team victory or a special achievement.

Over the next few weeks, TMSA's morning announcements will transition from an intercom-based broadcast to a real-time simulated news reporting broadcast.  The live broadcasts will be made available through Microsoft Teams daily at 7:40 a.m. each morning.   The live broadcasts will be hosted by Miles Scott and Jaden Hudgins (pictured to the right).

Don't forget, all TMSA scholars should arrive at school no later than 7:45 a.m. daily.
