From the Sneak Peek to Now: See What TMSA Kindergarteners Are Learning

The Main Street Academy welcomed over 70 bright-eyed and eager kindergarteners this 2022 - 2023 academic school year. Take a glance at what the kindergarteners are currently learning! 
 
Reading
Letter E and the double E sound (example see, eel, feet), Letter B and H sound, Letter C and letter K sound. 
Phonemic Awareness Isolating beginning, middle and ending sounds, segmenting, and blending.  
Comprehension: building knowledge, making connections, predicting, identifying, describing, responding, and defining.  Identifying Front cover, back cover, spine, author, and illustrator. 
 
Genres; Fiction and Non-Fiction
 
Math
Math 2D and 3D shapes. Students should be able to make real-world connections. Robot project using 2D and 3D shapes. Students can count to 100, count by 5's, and 10's, count objects 1:1 correspondence, identify numbers 0-50, write numbers 0-50, and write number words 0-20. 
 
Writing 
Narrative writing, writing first and last name correctly, writing letters uppercase and lower case correctly, tracing, copying from the board, drawing, and labeling.
 Skills that we are currently working on are fine motor skills, such as cutting, gluing, and hand motions.
