Finish Strong TMSA Scholars

April 1, 2022

As we enter the last and final semester, scholars start to panic. Taking a moment to breathe and calm your fears reminds scholars that everything is going to be okay. Below are a few tips to help scholars finish out the school year strong. Good luck and continue to put your best foot forward!

1. Do Not Procrastinate - Testing, Reports, Presentations, and Finals will happen this semester. Start preparing early enough to have time to review and make revisions. By waiting you will procrastinate.

 2. Remain Organized - Keep your work in labeled folders. You will thank yourself later when you are able to find exactly what you are looking for.

3. Prioritize - Rearrange assignments to get the most important items done first. Make a list of items and cross them out once completed. Place notifications on your phone and computer with due dates for assignments. There is no way to remember everything.

 4. Take Care of Yourself - Find ways to distress. Walking, reading, and exercising are great examples of stress-reducing activities that allow the body to relax. According to the Center for Disease Control, school-age children need at least 9-12 hours of sleep per 24 hours. Obtaining enough sleep allows scholars to report to school daily eager and ready to engage in learning.

5. Eat Healthily - A diet full of healthy fruits and vegetables will get your body going and make you feel good. A better and much happier scholar will result in better grades.

6. Ask for Extra Credit - If you are on the fence about a low grade in a class, now would be the time to ask for extra credit. If your teacher is offering extra credit take full of advantage of the opportunity. Extra credit can boost your grade point average and get you where you need to be.

7. Adjust Your Attitude  - Simply adjusting your attitude to be more polite and positive can make an incredible difference!

8. Focus on the Finish Line  -Visualize your finish line, your goals, and focus on that. The school year is almost over-you can do it! If you feel like you need extra help completing the school year. Speak with your parents, teacher, or counselor about tutoring. Tutors will work with you to ensure you are prepared to rock the remainder of the school year!

Remain Focused and finish the rest of this school year strong!
