TMSA's Charter Renewal Approved by the State Board of Education

April 14, 2020

Dear TMSA Community,

I am pleased to announce that on Thursday, April 9, 2020 the Georgia State Board of Education approved The Main Street Academy’s Charter Renewal Application, allowing us to operate over the next five years and continue serving families residing within the Fulton County Schools (FCS) district. TMSA’s new Charter term will be July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2025. This renewal concludes an extensive nine-month evaluation process during which Fulton County Schools and the Georgia Department of Education reviewed TMSA’s curriculum, performance and operations.

TMSA parents and guardians, thank you for entrusting TMSA to provide a quality education for your students.  TMSA administrators, teachers and staff, thank you for your dedication to every TMSA scholar. I would also like to thank everyone who participated in the charter renewal planning process. Your dedication and hard work has helped lay the foundation for the next five years of growth and creativity. The entire TMSA team looks forward to all the exciting successes our scholars will achieve.

The Main Street Academy opened its school doors to 563 students on August 23, 2010, the first day of school for the 2010 – 2011 academic school year. We anticipate serving over 870 students for the upcoming 2020 – 2021 academic school year. This will also mark the 10-year anniversary of TMSA opening its school doors to the community. This upcoming 10-year anniversary is a huge achievement and a reason for us all to celebrate!  In this unique time of social distancing, we can at least give each other virtual high fives in the hopes that we can have a much more fitting celebration very soon.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Fine
Governing Board President
