Mr. Mckie's Biography

My name is Jahlyn McKie, and I have been working in education since graduating from college in 2023. I began my career as a substitute teacher with Atlanta Public Schools before accepting a full-time position as a kindergarten paraprofessional. Working with young learners has strengthened my passion for helping children grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Before beginning my career in education, I was a collegiate baseball player. One of the highlights of my athletic career was helping lead my team to the first conference championship in school history. That experience taught me the importance of teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and leadership qualities that continue to influence my approach as both an educator and a coach.

In addition to my work in the classroom, I have served as a varsity baseball coach at Carver High School. Coaching has allowed me to mentor student-athletes while helping them develop not only their athletic abilities but also important life skills such as resilience, accountability, and confidence. I believe sports and physical activity are powerful tools for self-expression, emotional regulation, and personal growth for children and young adults of all ages.

As the oldest of three siblings, family has always been an important part of my life. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and staying active through sports. Whether I am teaching in the classroom or coaching on the field, my goal is to create positive, supportive environments where every child feels encouraged, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
