Dr. Cherry's Biography
Dr. Cherry is a dedicated fourth-grade teacher at The Main Street Academy, where she is currently in her 4th year of service. With 17 years of experience in education, she has taught across multiple grade levels—including 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades—and has also mentored new teachers. Dr. Cherry has worked within the Atlanta Public School System, Fulton County Schools, and Teach for America in Alabama.
A proud graduate of the University of Georgia and Mercer University, Dr. Cherry holds a B.S. in Biology Pre-Medicine, a Master’s in Science Education, a Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. She is certified in elementary education, secondary science, earth/space science, and holds a reading endorsement.
Dr. Cherry’s commitment to excellence in teaching has been recognized with multiple honors, including being named Teacher of the Year for Atlanta Public Schools (2011–2012) and Teacher of the Year at The Main Street Academy for the 2025–2026 school year. She is passionate about education, health, and yoga, and strives to inspire her students to achieve their fullest potential both inside and outside the classroom.
