We are excited to announce our 2019 Career Day on March 19, 2019. We are seeking a variety of professions to participate. This year’s Career Day will include two phases. For each phase we are asking participants to devote at least one hour to speak and visit with our students. Be prepared to share the following information with students:
The starting and average salary your profession earns
The level of education/ training required
Which subjects (i.e. Math, English, Science, Social Studies, etc.) are primarily used in your field
The type of environment in which you primarily work/work setting
The population (age, gender, socioeconomic status, etc.) of people you work with
What you like most and least about your career
Advancement opportunities in your field
Any interesting information you can share with students
Phase 1
We will have stations set up in the gym for Middle School students to visit based on their interests. (This will resemble a college or job fair.) Speakers will share information about their profession and possibly answer a few questions from students. Speakers will have 10 - 12 minutes to speak to a group of students. Students will have three minutes to rotate to the next station for which they have an interest. Speakers will get to share their presentation four times in an hour. We ask that you have literature to share with students about your profession or company.
Phase 2
Professionals will speak to students in their classrooms. Professionals will rotate to classrooms and spend 10 – 12 minutes in each class. This will give students the opportunity to ask questions to better understand the requirements needed to pursue this profession. Speakers will get to share their presentation four times in an hour. We ask that you have literature to share with students about your profession or company.
