September is Attendance Awareness Month, and The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is reminding families that every school day matters. Regular attendance and arriving at school on time are important parts of student success, helping students stay engaged, keep up with instruction, and make the most of their learning experience.
To help spread the message, TMSA students in our after-school program participated in a special attendance awareness activity focused on helping families understand the difference between excused and unexcused absences and the importance of arriving at school on time.
Families are encouraged to review the video below, featuring our students as they share important reminders about attendance and punctuality.
Know the Difference: Excused vs. Unexcused Absences
Families should familiarize themselves with TMSA’s attendance policies and understand the requirements for an absence to be considered excused. Absences that do not meet those requirements are considered unexcused. Staying informed about attendance expectations and communicating with the school when a student will be absent can help ensure students remain on track.
Start the Day on Time
Being present is important, but being on time matters, too. Families are encouraged to plan ahead and establish consistent morning routines that allow students to arrive at school ready to learn.
- Morning carline drop-off occurs from 7:15 a.m. until 7:45 a.m.
- Scholars arriving after 7:45 a.m., are tardy
