This week, The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is putting the spotlight on Chess as our Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) cluster of the Week!
Chess is more than just a game—it’s a strategic challenge that encourages students to think ahead, solve problems, and make thoughtful decisions. Every move matters, and students quickly learn that success on the board comes from planning, patience, and persistence.
Through chess, students strengthen critical-thinking skills while learning how to analyze possibilities and anticipate their opponent’s next move. Whether they’re learning the basics or already planning their next checkmate, students are challenged to think creatively and approach each game with strategy.
At TMSA, our SEM program gives students opportunities to explore their interests, develop their talents, and discover new ways to learn. Chess puts those skills into action—one move at a time.
