Dear TMSA Parents and Guardians,
I hope you and your family had a wonderful summer break. I am excited to partner with you in keeping our students healthy, safe, and ready to learn this school year. As we begin the year, I'd like to share a few important reminders about our medication procedures. These policies are in place to ensure that medications are stored safely and administered correctly when your child needs them.
All student medications must be kept and dispensed through the school clinic. Students may not carry medication at school. The only exceptions are EpiPens and rescue inhalers, which require the appropriate medical documentation and school approval for self-carry. Prescription medications require a medication authorization form completed and signed by your child's healthcare provider. Over-the-counter medications require a completed parent authorization form.
All medications must be in their original container, unexpired, and prescription medications must have the pharmacy label attached. For the safety of all students, medications found in a student's possession that have not been approved through the clinic may be confiscated and disposed of in accordance with school policy.
If your child has a medical condition or requires medication during the school day, all health forms can be found on the TMSA website under the Parent Tab. I encourage you to submit any required forms and medications as early as possible so we can have everything in place before your child needs it.
Thank you for your partnership and for helping us maintain a safe and healthy school environment for every student. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out-I am always happy to help!
Warmly,
Vanessa Jackson, BSN RN
