The Main Street Academy (TMSA) recently celebrated the success of its Read-A-Thon, an event that brought together students, staff, and families to promote literacy while raising funds to support school initiatives. Over the course of the Read-A-Thon, students logged an impressive 5,602 minutes of reading and $5,774 in donations was collectively raised. These achievements reflect not only a strong commitment to academic growth but also the generosity and support of the TMSA community.
Several students and staff members were recognized for their outstanding contributions. C. York earned the title of Top Individual Fundraiser, while R. Garcia logged the Highest Number of Reading Minutes among students. Among teachers, Dr. Goodson was recognized for securing the Most Donations, and Ms. Hicks led in total Reading Minutes. Their efforts helped drive enthusiasm and participation across the school.
The excitement of the Read-A-Thon was complemented by Career Day, where students dressed as the professions they aspire to pursue. This connection between reading and real-world aspirations reinforced the importance of literacy as a foundation for future success, allowing students to both imagine and actively prepare for their goals.
The Main Street Academy extends its sincere appreciation to Media Specialist Ms. Carnell for her leadership, to all the staff and families who supported and reinforced the Read-A-Thon at home, to every student who dedicated time to reading, and to all who contributed through generous donations. Your collective efforts made this initiative a meaningful success for the entire TMSA community.
