Atlanta Botanical Garden Brings Hands-On Science Learning Experience to TMSA Fifth Graders

Fifth-grade scholars at The Main Street Academy participated in an engaging, hands-on science experience led by Lillian Kline, a representative from the Atlanta Botanical Garden, in Mr. Aiken’s classroom.

Through the Garden’s outreach program, students explored the lesson “Grade 5: Be a Plant Taxonomist.” During the session, scholars examined plant specimens, recorded observations through drawings, and analyzed plant characteristics used for classification. Students then applied their understanding by connecting what they learned to plants found in their own communities. The lesson promoted scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and meaningful discussion.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Ms. Kline for providing this enriching educational experience. We also thank Mr. Aiken for coordinating this learning experience and creating meaningful opportunities for our scholars.
