As part of The Main Street Academy’s (TMSA) January Reading Initiative, fourth- and fifth-grade students participated in a meaningful literacy experience focused on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mr. Brown and Mrs. Baker generously volunteered their time to read with students and lead engaging discussions.
Students remained actively involved as Mr. Brown and Mrs. Baker asked thoughtful questions and invited them to read along. The conversation explored Dr. King’s contributions in depth, highlighting how his fight for equality helped create a society rooted in unity and mutual respect, where people are recognized as equals.
The reading session supported literacy development while reinforcing important historical and social lessons, making it a powerful and impactful component of TMSA’s January Reading Initiative.
TMSA extends a sincere thank you to Mr. Brown and Mrs. Baker for volunteering their time to read and engage with our scholars. We also want to recognize our Media Specialist, Ms. Carnell for coordinating the monthly reading initiative.
