Community Health Advisory: Flu Prevention

The Georgia Department of Public Health has reported increased flu activity across the state. We are collaborating with our school community to maintain a healthy environment.

Parents are advised to monitor children for potential flu symptoms, including fever, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. If your child is experiencing illness, please keep them home. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.

Effective prevention measures include:

  • Practicing thorough hand hygiene
  • Practicing respiratory etiquette
  • Minimizing face touching
  • Remaining home during illness

Your cooperation is essential in protecting the health of our entire school community.

Sincerely,
Vanessa Jackson, RN
School Nurse
