On Thursday, November 6, The Main Street Academy (TMSA) welcomed 8th grade students and their families for the annual High School Transition Night, an event focused on preparing the next generation of scholars for high school and beyond.
Families met visiting high schools and learned about program options. The event emphasized exploring academic pathways, extracurricular opportunities, and what to expect from the transition.

Key Dates for 2025-2026:
- December 1, 2025- Opening of application window
List of schools accepting transfers announced.
- January 9, 2026 - Application window closes
School district begins aligning eligible applications with available schools.
- Mid/Late January 2026
School district sends notification by email of acceptance or denial to parents/guardians.
- May 21, 2026
Last day of 2025-2026 school year.
- August 3, 2026
First day of 2026-2027 school year; Students with approved COSA transfers start their new school.
Parents, please be sure to adhere to the timeline above if you are considering having your 8th grade student attend a high school outside of your zone or if you are interested in one of the Magnet School Options.
Tips to keep in mind:

If you are unsure which school you would like your child to attend, it may be beneficial to complete the Change of School Application. This allows flexibility in case you change your mind later.

When completing the application, parents who have done this before advise being very selective with your first school choice. In the past, the first school listed is often the one most likely to be offered to your child. While this is not guaranteed, it is important to keep this in mind when making your top selection.
