The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is joining the Alzheimer’s Association – Georgia Chapter in raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and promoting brain health across the school community. The initiative, supported by the Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Aging Services, provides valuable resources on Alzheimer’s disease, caregiver support, and community programs.
Show Your Support on November 7, 2025:
To show solidarity and spark important conversations, all students and staff are encouraged to wear something purple—such as a shirt, tie, ribbon, or socks—on Friday, November 7, in recognition of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. Uniform bottoms will still be required.
Families who wish to contribute may donate or drop off purple-themed treats for students or staff, such as store-bought cupcakes, cookies, or other nut-free snacks and fruits.
How To Build Awareness:
In addition to the day of awareness, parents are encouraged to discuss with their children:
- The importance of brain health
- How sleep, nutrition, and physical activity help keep the brain strong
- What Alzheimer’s disease is and how it affects individuals, families, and caregivers.
Through this initiative, The Main Street Academy aims to foster early awareness and understanding of brain health and the impact of Alzheimer’s disease—empowering students to show compassion and support for those affected in their communities.
