On Thursday, October 9, The Main Street Academy (TMSA) K–3 teachers participated in an engaging Science of Reading training led by Dr. Isaac Sparks and Mrs. Courtney Jones from GA Metro RESA. This professional learning session focused on understanding how the brain learns to read and applying research-based practices to improve literacy outcomes. Teachers explored the “7 Mighty Moves”—strategies that emphasize phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension—to ensure every student builds a strong reading foundation.
The training offered exciting, hands-on approaches that our teachers are eager to incorporate into daily instruction, further enhancing our reading programs at TMSA and supporting student success in literacy.
