Trout Eggs Arrive at The Main Street Academy!

Excitement is bubbling over in Ms. Jenkins’ 6th grade Science classroom as 125 rainbow trout eggs have officially arrived! This marks the seventh year of The Main Street Academy’s (TMSA) partnership with Trout in the Classroom (TIC), sponsored by Trout Unlimited and our community partners from the Upper Chattahoochee Chapter of Trout Unlimited (UCCTU).

Mr. Byrd, our UCCTU representative, delivered the tiny eggs and spoke with curious 6th graders about trout life cycles and cold-water habitats. Over the coming months, students will care for the trout—monitoring water quality, studying life stages, and learning about Georgia’s freshwater ecosystems—before releasing the young fingerlings into the Chattahoochee River in March.

This hands-on project connects classroom science to real-world environmental stewardship!
