It's Never Too Early-Now Is The Time to Plan For High School

The Main Street Academy (TMSA) encourages all 8th grade families to begin planning for their students’ transition to high school.

Below is important information from Fulton County Schools regarding the Change of School Assignment (COSA) process for the 2025–2026 school year. All transitioning 8th graders who will attend a Fulton County high school must follow this process, unless they plan to attend their zoned home school.

Change of School Assignment (COSA) Application Timeline:

The COSA application window opens on December 1, 2025, and closes on January 9, 2026.

  • Apply for a school transfer through the COSA webpage.
  • Submit a magnet program application after COSA acceptance.

Schools Without an Attendance Zone:

Applications accepted beginning October 1, 2025.

  • Apply through each school's website.
  • Should classroom space remain after the application process concludes, the schools may join the list of schools accepting COSA transfers published in December.

High schools limit magnet studies participation to students who have applied and been accepted into the program, even if they are zoned for the school. Out-of-zone students must use the COSA process to apply for a transfer; however, an approved transfer does not guarantee admission into the magnet program. A separate magnet application process occurs through the school after COSA approval.

Schools Without an Attendance Zone:

There are several magnet-themed schools without attendance zones. These schools were designed around specific areas of study and accept students from across the district through a school-managed application process and timeline.

*Although North Springs High School has an attendance zone, students pursuing the Accelerated Career Diploma magnet program can reside anywhere in the district and apply during the school’s specified application window. Students interested in the STEAM magnet at North Springs High School must first apply to the school through COSA and, if accepted, then apply for magnet program admission.
