The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is kicking off its sports season with athletics tryouts. Following the Athletic Parent Information Meeting on August 13th, Athletic Director, Mr. Raimon Williams, has released important guidelines for families to help student-athletes prepare for the big day.
Eligibility Comes First
Before students can get on the field, they must meet TMSA’s eligibility standards:
- Students must be in good standing academically (no more than one failing class).
- No suspensions on their discipline record for the year, in order to be eligible to participate in a sport.
Dress for Success
Proper attire is key for safety and performance:
- Flag Football:
- T-shirt
- Gym shorts
- Football cleats (tennis shoes are allowed for tryouts, but cleats are required for the season)
- Soccer:
- T-shirt
- Gym shorts
- Shin guards
- Soccer cleats (tennis shoes are permitted for tryouts, but cleats will be needed if selected)
Costs and Uniforms
- While final costs will be announced once rosters are set, families can expect fees between $150–$200 per sport.
- Uniform cost will be included in team dues and the athletes will be able to keep the uniforms once the season is concluded.
Physicals: No Exceptions
- All student athletes will need to submit a copy of their physical.
- Physicals must be completed before any player can tryout or practice.
- Grades K–5: Physicals may be emailed to Athletic Director, Mr. Raimon Williams ([email protected]) or students may bring a paper copy to school on the day of tryouts.
- Grades 6–8: Physicals and signed consent forms must be uploaded to Rank One.
For added convenience, TMSA will administer athletic physicals on Tuesday, August 19th at 3:45 p.m. in the Media Center.
Please click here to complete the required form prior to attending, and note that the $25 payment must be made via card.
Parents Can Get in the Game, Too
If a parent would like to be a volunteer coach or assist with any sport, they must complete the volunteer registration process with our Extended Care and Family Engagement Director, Mrs. Jamil Pearson. She can be contacted via email [email protected]
With these guidelines in place, TMSA is ready to launch another exciting season of school athletics, giving students the opportunity to build teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit on and off the field. If you have any questions, please contact Athletic Director, Mr. Raimon Williams, at [email protected] for more information.
