Health and Safety Reminders for the 2025-2026 School Year

Greetings TMSA parents and guardians,

As The Main Street Academy (TMSA) kicks off a new school year, we’re excited to welcome back our students and families. To ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone, please take note of the following important health and safety reminders:

TMSA is a Nut-Free School

To protect students with severe allergies, no peanut or tree nut products are allowed on campus.

This includes:

  • Peanut butter, Nutella
  • Trail mix or granola bars containing nuts
  • Baked goods with nuts
  • Certain candies (e.g., Reese’s, Snickers, Dubai Chocolate)
  • Pesto, some sauces, and cereals

Even trace amounts or the smell of these products can trigger serious allergic reactions. Please check all food labels carefully before sending snacks or lunches to school.

Medication Policy

Students are not permitted to carry any medications—including inhalers—in backpacks or pockets. Any medication found will be discarded immediately due to safety concerns.

If your child needs to self-carry medication (e.g., an inhaler or EpiPen), it must:

  • Be approved by the school nurse, Nurse Jackson or administration
  • Have current doctor documentation on file

All other medications must be stored and administered through the school clinic. Please help prevent the loss of costly medications by following this policy.

When to Keep Your Child Home

To help reduce the spread of illness, please keep your child home if they show any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever of 100.4°F or higher
→ Must be fever-free without medication for 24 hours to return
→ If sent home, the student must stay home the following full school day
  • Two or more episodes of vomiting or diarrhea the night before
→ Keep your child home to recover

If a student vomits at school, they must be picked up—no exceptions. If your child has a medical condition that may explain symptoms, notify their teacher and provide documentation.

All absences should be reported to: [email protected]

Update Emergency Contact Information

Please ensure that we have at least two current working phone numbers listed for your child. Only the first and second priority contacts will be called for non-emergency situations. Please update contact priorities if needed,

Thank you for your cooperation and support in creating a safe and welcoming school environment. We’re looking forward to a fantastic year at TMSA!
