TMSA students had the opportunity to learn about the stock market while competing against other students across Georgia in the Stock Market SEM Competition. Each team was given a virtual $100,000 to invest in real stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, selecting companies of their choice. The team with the highest equity in their region at the end of the competition was awarded prizes by the Georgia Council on Economic Education (GCEE).
Every week, students:
- Learned about the stock market
- Evaluated company stock quotes to determine if they were good investments
- Analyzed their portfolios to decide whether to buy or sell stocks
There were 50 teams in our region. TMSA scholars secured the following impressive positions:
- 2nd Place: Jaylin Scott and Akwa Wilson – Total Equity $112,610.19
- 3rd Place: Cayden Jelks and Landon McDonald – Total Equity $111,734.29
- 5th Place: Jordan Pryor and Austin Roberts – Total Equity $106,280.94
- 6th Place: Tyler Coley and Sadarius Williams – Total Equity $105,429.42
