Georgia Power's Learning Power Reinforces STEM Education at TMSA

The Main Street Academy’s kindergarten through fourth-grade scholars gained in-class Learning Power lessons from Georgia Power February 21 – 23, 2023. Available for Pre-K through high school, Learning Power lessons and experiments are designed to boost age-appropriate creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking. The Main Street Academy's scholars centered on the following lessons:

First Grade's Lesson Focus: Practice reading comprehension (key details in text) and explore how magnets attract and repel.

Second Grade's Lesson Focus: Practice reading comprehension (purpose of a text) and learn about the sun as an energy source.

Third Grade's Lesson Focus: Practice measuring temperature and explore heat transfer and how insulation affects changes in temperature.

Fourth Grade's Lesson Focus: Explore the use of simple machines and discuss how gravitational force affects the motion of an object.

Bringing energy and energy efficiency education into classrooms helps students and families understand the importance of practicing energy-efficient habits.  In addition to learning about energy and energy efficiency, Learning Power also introduces students to exciting STEM career opportunities.  Since its inception in 2011, Learning Power has delivered interactive lessons in 170 Georgia school districts to over one million students.

TMSA is proud to continue its long-established educational partnership with Georgia Power that began in 2014 with Georgia Power Summer Camp and evolved to include more programs – Energy Efficiency Camp and Learning Power.
