WheatleyHello Parents,

During this time of the year, students are transitioning from full instruction to adding a little bit more test prep to better prepare for milestones. We also just started a new novel called Patient Zero, it is a full informational text, so students may struggle a bit with their assignments. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

CellsGreetings! In 7th Grade Life Science, students have been learning all about cell organelles. Students demonstrated their mastery of the curriculum by completing physical and conceptual models of plant and animal cells. Students will extend their knowledge of cells to the Trout in the Classroom Project currently underway in our Trout Hatchery Lab. Not only are students learning about the life cycle of trout, they also are gaining a deeper knowledge of the role that cells play in the trout life cycle; including, meiosis, mitosis, cell differentiation, and how multi-cellular organisms grow. Bonus connections with the TIC Program include a basic understanding of biotic and abiotic ecological factors, and why trout species should be conserved.  Additionally, students are developing critical thinking skills by reflecting on the successes and challenges of raising living organisms according to their survival needs.
