The Garden Club at TMSA

Although colder temperatures are quickly approaching, The Main Street Academy's After School  Program (ASP) is heating up! Every Monday, enrolled ASP students may participate in the Garden Club to discover and learn about plants - their systems, and their connection to us. The Garden Club is led by Tenisio Seanima, known as  Farmer T., who is an agriculture subject matter expert and collaborated in planning the City of East Point’s Agriculture Plan.

During Garden Club, students engage with each other through leadership tasks and learn other valuable skills. At the onset of the Garden Club, students learned how to properly use a power drill to make drainage holes in planting tubs and then assisted and instructed each other to complete the activity. Afterward, students filled the tubs with soil and planted their first vegetable – kale! Experience TMSA's vegetable garden (located next to the staff parking lot) as it continues to grow and thrive thanks to Famer T. and our students.

Lastly, students are in the process of updating the pollinator garden (located by the gym doors) with beautiful blooms of flowers.

As the school's education garden is planted and improved, teachers will be able to use it to help students learn more about pollinators.
