New TMSA Morning and Afternoon Carline Process, Effective Sept. 19, 2022

September 15, 2022

Dear TMSA Parents, Guardians and Transportation Providers -

Campus safety is one of our top priorities at The Main Street Academy (TMSA). TMSA’s leadership team continues to evaluate options that will help improve the school’s morning arrival and afternoon dismissal traffic flow. Recently, members from TMSA’s leadership team met with city leaders and elected officials, including Councilman Roderick Gay from the City of College Park, to address several barriers related to student morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. It’s imperative that the TMSA school community assist our city leaders, neighbors and community constituents by reducing school-related traffic congestion in surrounding streets and neighborhoods.

Therefore, effective Monday, September 19, 2022, stopped, parked and standing cars affiliated with TMSA on Lakeshore Drive are strictly prohibited. Parents, guardians and transportation service providers should not arrive at the TMSA campus before 7:00 a.m. or before 3:10 p.m. to respectively begin forming the morning drop-off or afternoon dismissal carlines. Any vehicles that are parked, stopped, or standing on Lakeshore Drive will be ticketed by the College Park Police Department. Vehicle parking, stopping, or standing prevents safe passage and impedes the traffic flow on Lakeshore Drive.

Should you need to arrive on campus earlier than 7:00 a.m. or 3:10 p.m., the City of College Park has granted TMSA families permission to temporarily park at the "holding parking lot" located 0.5 miles away from the TMSA campus in the parking lot near Jamestown Park that is located at 4400 Herschel Road, Atlanta, GA  30337 (across from Family Dollar and Chevron gas station) on Riverdale Road. Post 7:00 a.m. and 3:10 p.m., drivers may begin arriving at the TMSA campus and following the normal drop-off and pick-up procedures.

If you have questions about this new process, please call the school’s front office at 404-768-0081 or email [email protected]. Thank you for your continued support in continually improving campus safety.
