Kourtney Cooper - First Grade

Ms. Cooper is a Georgia State graduate who has obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Special Education. Ms. Cooper originated from the Bahamas and has been residing in Atlanta for over three years pursuing her passion and love for education. When asked why she has chosen to become an educator she confidently responded:" I have had a calling to teach ever since I was four years old. I have a grand desire to change the way the world sees my generation and the generations to follow. To borrow Ghandi's famous quote, I believe my role as an educator will help me "Be the change I want to see in the world". The world desperately needs that change, and as an educator I am equipped with the tools to cultivate the whole child by providing a fervent foundation that they are less inclined to turn away from once they are older. Ms. Cooper's desire to " be the change" motivated her to go beyond the classroom as she has played many roles in the uplifting of youth in her society. Some of those roles include but are not limited to: Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, camp counselor, choir and dance director etc.
Ms.. Cooper’s hobbies include poetry writing, reading, cooking, walking along the beach, and spending quality time with family and friends. Ms. Cooper comes from a tight knit family inclusive of four sisters and one twin brother. Ms. Cooper was raised in a loving home surrounded by laughter and support. Due to this, she aspires to create a sense of community in her classroom and an environment where love and respect is prioritized. Ms. Cooper assures the parents/guardians of her students that once entered into her classroom their child is guaranteed to receive an education that is multicultural, fun-filled, challenging and value-based.
