Ms. Watkins - ESOL

Welcome!

What is ESOL? ESOL stands for English Speakers of Other Languages. Can you name other languages? If you thought of Spanish, Creole, Japanese, German, Arabic, Swahili, Chinese, Italian, Greek or Korean you are correct. There are actually many many more.

I teach my students reading, speaking, and writing strategies that can be used in their classes. I enjoy working with my students because I am learning with them. Yes, my students teach me as well. I get to learn about about their language, culture and traditions. Together we work toward the goal of reading, speaking and writing English proficiently.

Although this is my first year at Main Street, I have been teaching ESOL students for the past 11 years. I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education.

I also completed my Master's in Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University. Currently, I am finishing my dissertation for my Doctorate in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Walden University.
