Carline and Directions

Arriving to TMSA
The Main Street Academy is located at 2861 Lakeshore Drive, College Park, GA 30337. As a tuition-free Fulton County Schools charter school, TMSA does not provide busing transportation for students. Parents and guardians are responsible for their child(ren)'s transportation to and from school. TMSA posts a security officer at the head of the driveway whose responsibility is to direct traffic, so kindly use your turn signal to indicate that you are entering the school. Obey the traffic officer, and feel free to wave or smile when you pass!

Morning Arrival

General morning carline drop-off occurs from 7:10 a.m. until 7:45 a.m.

During morning arrival, all students must be safely dropped off at the front of the school building.

Students enrolled in TMSA's Extended Care Program/Before School may arrive at school during early drop-off  (6:30 a.m. - 7:00 a.m.).

If your child arrives after 7:45 a.m., they are tardy and must be escorted into the school by a parent/guardian, regardless of age or grade. Thank you for adhering to this policy to ensure all students are safe.

Afternoon Dismissal

Effective, September 19, 2022 stopped, parked and standing cars affiliated with TMSA on Lakeshore Drive are strictly prohibited. Parents, guardians and transportation service providers should not arrive at the TMSA campus before 7:00 a.m. or before 2:45 p.m. to respectively begin forming the morning drop-off or afternoon dismissal carlines. Any vehicles that are parked, stopped, or standing on Lakeshore Drive will be ticketed by the College Park Police Department. Vehicle parking, stopping, or standing prevents safe passage and impedes the traffic flow on Lakeshore Drive.

Should you need to arrive on campus earlier than 7:00 a.m. or 2:45 p.m., the City of College Park has granted TMSA families permission to temporarily park at the "holding parking lot" located 0.5 miles away from the TMSA campus in the parking lot near Jamestown Park that is located at 4400 Herschel Road, Atlanta, GA  30337 (across from Family Dollar and Chevron gas station) on Riverdale Road. Post 7:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., drivers may begin arriving at the TMSA campus and following the normal drop-off and pick-up procedures.

 Holding Parking Lot

Afternoon carline dismissal begins at 3:00 p.m. During afternoon dismissal, all students (excluding those participating in the After School Program or extracurricular activities) will exit the school building to their designated vehicles via three designated color zones (yelloworange or green).

Dismissal Map

To maximize instructional time, maintain an orderly school environment and ensure safe dismissal, no student may be checked out of school after 2:15 p.m. (absolutely no exceptions).

Students will receive their color-coded car tags and backtag tags during the first week of school. If your household didn't not receive the tag resources, please contact Eve Nealy, TMSA's Director of Operations.

Late Pick-Up

Students not enrolled in the After School Program and participating in extracurricular activities must be picked up by 3:45 p.m. (no exceptions). We realize emergencies occur that cannot be avoided. For these instances we allow flexibility, and we allow two late pick-ups before fees are assessed and you are considered at risk of losing your child’s enrollment in our school/programs. This letter serves as a warning indicating an offense of the Dismissal Policy and you will be charged the After School Program drop-in daily rate of $25.00. Each time that your child is picked up late the $25.00 fee will be assessed along with the consequences outlined in our TMSA Parent Handbook. In addition, your child/family may be referred to the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services or the City of College Park Police Department for further investigation.

Please note the following important school carline reminders:

  • Refrain from cell phone use
  • Be courteous to our neighbors by not blocking their driveways
  • Do NOT enter the carline earlier than 2:45 p.m. (early dismissal ends at 2:15 p.m.) This will prevent congestion in the school’s parking lot in the event of an emergency, reduce/eliminate overflow traffic onto Janice Drive and allows visitors/staff to enter/exit
  • Dismissal changes (ex. students staying after school for extracurricular or tutoring, not taking a transportation shuttle, etc.) MUST be communicated to the front office no later than 1:30 p.m.
  • Always keep mirror tags inside your vehicle and on backpacks

Walkers:
Dropping off your child outside the gates of the school and letting them walk inside the building unattended is not allowed. Parents and guardians who break this rule are creating a safety hazard for their children and for others. In the event that this rule is broken, the school administration may take any or all of the following actions: notify the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS), notify the College Park police, and/or recommend expulsion of the student from TMSA.

Students who live in the neighborhood, or take public transportation, need to complete paperwork verifying that they will be walking to the school, so that appropriate safety measures can be taken. Any student who is a verified “walker” will not be dismissed until after the carline has ended. Carline ends at 3:30 p.m. Those who arrive after 3:30  p.m. and who do not pay for aftercare may be subject to fines.

Carline Etiquette:
When entering TMSA from Lakeshore Drive, please be mindful of our neighbors. Please do not block driveways. Kindly adhere to the neighborhood speed limit of 25 miles per hour (15 miles per hour in the school zone). And remember that we all try to model our core values at all times for our students.

Parking and Walking Students into the Building:
Due to guidelines, parents are not permitted to park and escort their children to class. However, the parents/guardians of kindergarteners are permitted to escort their children to class on the first day of school.
